Current networks are designed to leave sensitive content scattered throughout a company’s infrastructure and beyond the control of network administrators.
Future networks must manage the exchange of content and the access of that content.
New regulations are breeding an entirely new issue C-Level executives and network administrators must consider: corporate governance. Although it is not a new topic, it has taken on a whole new significance in recent years. Public corporations have become much more common and shareholders are more savvy demanding more consequences for inefficiences in management. After the collapse of some well known corporate giants, companies are learning that the trust of their customers, employees and stakeholders can take years to win and only minutes to lose.
Technology creates an opportunity to gain the trust of those you seek but can also “bite the hand that feeds it”. The same technologies - email, instant messaging, compliance control, virus protection, network efficiency - can also create enormous risk if poorly implemented or mismanaged.
“Ultimately, information security is not soley a technical issue, but a corporate governance challenge,” a recent Business Software Alliance report found. “While there is broad consensus on the actions needed to create strong security, too often responsibility is left to the chief information officer or the chief information security officer. In fact, strong security requires the active engagement of executive management. By treating these challenges as a governance issue and defining specific tasks that employees at all levels of an organization can discharge, enterprises can begin to create a management framework that will lead to positive results.”
The report went on to report that CIOs may “suffer conflicting demands with regard to IT functionality and may not be in a position to leverage the resources and authority necessary to address the problem across multiple business lines or divisions.”
Need help? Digital Reach can help you meet these new levels of data and network security requirements without putting additional strains and workloads on your network engineers and administrators.

IT support challenges have grown increasingly complex and critical to a company’s bottom line. As a result, IT Help Desks face added pressure to reduce costs and increase productivity. An outsourced, remote, IT support solution provides a broad range of incident-resolution tools to assist your support staff or end-users contributing to increased efficiency and productivity.
When you implement a remote-support solution with Digital Reach you will quickly change the way your company views technical support. Managed IT Services deliver a comprehensive, integrated package to help businesses proactively manage and monitor their Information Technology - networks, servers, desktops, security, backup, recovery, etc. But what if you already have an IT department and don’t need that all-encompassing level of service? That is where Fractional Outsourcing or Fractional IT Services comes into the picture.
Fractional Outsourcing allows a company to create their own service plan and to select the level of IT services that fit their needs. Often times this approach is implemented to compliment an in-house IT staff’s needs and requirements. By integrating specialized skill-sets into your existing IT infrastructure you get to maximize your staff’s efficiency and expertise while advancing your technology.
How do I know if Fractional Outsourcing is right for me?
A good place to start is if you recognize any of these common challenges:
When you identify an area of your business related to technology that is diverting focus from strategic initiatives and core competencies - it might be time to re-evaluate your information technology structure. A “stretched-too-thin” IT department will drain your resources trying to isolate, identify and solve Information Technology challenges. When you rely on your IT staff to “wear all the hats” you are asking them to develop “on-the-fly” expertise and opening up your business to gaps in performance, efficiency and security.
What if you need to upgrade network devices, servers or desktops but you don’t have the time, expertise or personnel to facilitate the transition? With Fractional Outsourcing your staff will get the support they need to accomplish the migration and you will get the peace of mind and confidence in knowing the migration was a success.
Maybe you have a training issue? You have terrific personnel but you don’t have the time to keep them up to date on new technologies. Again, with Fractional Outsourcing you get the support you, and your staff, need.

Windows Vista and Microsoft Office together gives your small business the essential software and security enhancements you need to get things done efficiently so you can focus on what matters most.
Strengthen your data safety net
Not losing important business information is a key concern for your business. Features in the Windows Backup and Restore Center can help your business easily schedule automatic backups of documents, files, programs, settings and even entire hard disks. New Windows Vista Shadow Copy and improved Microsoft Office Document Recovery can help easily recover lost files.
Stop searching. Find.
Time spent searching for information means lost productivity and wasted resources. Windows Vista Instant Search and Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 Instant Search can help your customers quickly find what they’re looking for - documents, media, programs, email messages and more on their PCs or across their networks.
Take advantage of new and better ways to see and do work
New innovative navigational tools such as Windows Flip 3D and live task bar thumbnails in the Windows Aero user interface make it easier for users to get to recently used documents and programs. The new Microsoft Office Ribbon, which replaces menus and toolbars with related commands organized into sets of tabs, presents the commands that are relevant to a task.
Centralize all customer information
Managing customer information is a top priorty for businesses, but they don’t always have a single, consistent system. Office Outlook 2007 with Business Contact Manager consolidates all customer and sales lead information in one location: email, history, relevant documents, sales opportunities, and more.
Help protect your inbox, data and peace of mind
Windows Vista and Office Professional 2007 helps reduce junk mail and spyware. Improved junk-mail filters and anti-phishing technologies in Office Outlook 2007 and new-anti-phishing technologies in Windows Internet Explorer 7 can help minimize junk mail and potentially harmful e-mail messages. Windows Defender provides built-in tools for detecting and removing spyware.

In previous releases of Microsoft Office applications, people used a system of menus, toolbars, task panes, and dialog boxes to get their work done. This system worked well when the applications had a limited number of commands. Now that the programs do so much more, the menus and toolbars system does not work as well. Too many program features are too hard for many users to find. For this reason, the overriding design goal for the Office Fluent user interface is to make it easier for people to find and use the full range of features these applications provide. In addition, Microsoft wanted to preserve an uncluttered workspace that reduces distraction for users so they can spend more time and energy focused on their work. With these goals in mind, they developed a results-oriented approach that makes it much easier to produce great results using the 2007 Microsoft Office applications.
Better Results, Faster
Microsoft redesigned the Microsoft Office user interface to make it easier to find and use the features you need to deliver better results, faster. The new interface offers new results-oriented features such as: “The Ribbon” navigation and the addition of the Microsoft Office Button for one-touch access to the most popular commands.
The Ribbon organizes all the features of the products into tabs. The tabs organize your commands and help you quickly find the most popular commands for completion of tasks.
Galleries show you different styles you can use to change the look and style of your documents. When browsing through the Galleries, changes are shown in real-time with live preview to simplify the design process.
Live Preview is a new technology that shows the results of applying an editing or formatting change as the user moves the pointer over the results presented in a Gallery. This new, dynamic capability streamlines the process of laying out, editing, and formatting so users can create excellent results with less time and effort. These elements are just a few of the new technologies that combine to create the Office Fluent user interface.

If your company relies on Microsoft® Exchange Server to manage and deliver information, as well as to communicate with your customers and partners, who will you trust to maximize its protection and recovery? Exchange administrators are looking for a better way to protect and recover the email that their company depends on. Microsoft has heard from our customers and partners and delivered a complete solution with System Center Data Protection Manager (DPM).
Data Protection Manager (DPM) v2 is a member of the Microsoft System Center family of management products, which are designed to help IT Professionals manage their Windows Server® infrastructure. Announced in September as a publicly available beta, DPM v2 sets a new standard for Windows backup and recovery — delivering continuous data protection for Microsoft application and file servers to a seamlessly integrated secondary disk and tape solution on the DPM server. DPM enables rapid and reliable recovery through advanced technology for enterprises of all sizes.
Microsoft protection and recovery for Microsoft applications
Microsoft designed DPM v2 to provide the best backup and most reliable restore for Microsoft Exchange Server. Focused on the primary Microsoft server workloads, DPM version 2 was specifically built to protect and recover Exchange Server, Microsoft SQL Server™, SharePoint® Portal Server, as well as Windows file services. In addition, DPM v2 blends the best aspects of continuous data protection (CDP) with traditional tape backup. DPM v2 provides continuous protection for the core Microsoft server workloads to a DPM server, which then provides disk-based recovery and tape-based, long-term archival for a complete data protection and recovery solution.
