This practice not only undermines legitimate retailers, causing them to lose business to people selling pirated software on computers, it also prevents buyers from receiving security updates and could jeopardize their computer security through the use of potentially tampered code.

Microsoft realizes that companies selling counterfeit software or hard disk loaded systems make competing difficult for you and other honest companies. That’s why we won’t hesitate to take legal action against people who do it. This month alone, 23 lawsuits have been brought against individuals and companies in Florida and California, making the total number of cases filed in the past year over 120.
